The McKenna and the Stafford families have been at odds with each other for longer than they remember. When Oakley Stafford is shot while trespassing on the McKenna ranch, everyone assumes it was a McKenna family member or one of their ranch hands who pulled the trigger. However, Cooper McKenna, newly back in town, is determined to help Tilly Stafford figure out who shot her younger sister and clear his family's name. The only issue is that Tilly is currently dating his friend Stuart, who also happens to be the sheriff. Cooper and Stuart are friends, but one of Stuart's past girlfriends left him for Cooper, which was a source of conflict.
