Gold has been discovered near Grand Lake, but before it can be mined, the development is stopped by environmentalists. All this is rather academic to Jonah Borden, pastor, coffee connoisseur, and paragon of witty comebacks. He’d rather be fishing – even in a March snowstorm. However, even fishing in a snowstorm leads to trouble. Borden discovers an old logger trapped under a tree, and saves his life. Things become even more complicated when, in an apparently unrelated incident, a stranger gives Borden three million dollars just days before being murdered. As things get more bizarre, and ever more convoluted, Borden must face his own temptations and fears, and rely on his friends and loved ones, to unravel the elaborate plot surrounding the death of the stranger, the gold, the money, and a United States senator.
